ASSAULT ON HEREFORD

Rainbow Six: Siege Assault on Hereford event was huge undertaking for the events-cell. The event was tied to the narrative timeline of the Rainbow Six: Siege universe and played as a stage of the invasion of the KERES Legion into Rainbow Six headquarters.

The gamemode featured three step round based phases that saw the Rainbow Six team caught in an attrition mode of Secure Area, then Bomb followed by a final Hostage gauntlet. The other team, KERES Legion, had infinite respawns and their goal was to stop Rainbow at any of these phases.

As usual my job on the Events-Cell consists of producing multiple in-game UI Menu Flows, Mockups and Custom Assets ranging from in-game Modal prompts, Rules Pages, button tiles visuals, icons and promotional marketing Key Arts.

At Ubisoft, UI Artists are also considered integrators, as of such I followed and wrote new documentations for processes, workflows and best industry practices over the years for juniors and newcomers alike.

Finally, and since 2024, I've been the principal illustrator and concept artist for the cell. Making concepts for the maps, rendering and making specific paintings for 3D models and Environments.

Infiltrated as recruits amongst the Rainbow ranks, we focused all artistic aspects on the Hereford Base itself, while hovering effects and added effects were red and fiery. Hereford base was set to explode and burn down to the ground.

The Tiles were made based on the Hereford Base main plate at the base entrance. The normal rainy base becoming a sparked filled combat zone. We didnt want to go too overboard with the destruction as a cinematic trailer was planned to be released at the Six Invitational 2025.

The final cue of the action phase while the hostage was escorted out, was to blow the whole base. As of such, most of the visuals were hints of the end results.

When I created the loading screen, we initially made a first concept art draft. But it was too partially unfinished. So I took a shot of the map and matte painted the whole destruction and effects.

The Lobby is a derivative art that was initially made by Tarcisio Ferreira and Jean-Philippe Rajotte back in Year 3 Season 3 (2018. I changed all of the rain effects, the rooftops and their reflections, the sky, shadows and ground reflections and overall z-depth.

The Badges made by Justyn Muniz were made on a negative contrast for the Attacking Striker and Defending Sentry.

The Background Card would reflect the final hostage zone flares and the main base.

For the action phase, I had to create a HUD for each steps of the KERES or Rainbow Six teams. Because of the multi-layered objectives, we had to develop a tracker system that had been made for the onboarding into our mode.

I also had to make a unique KERES audio log visual for in-between phase HQ voicelines.

For team Rainbow, the amount of operator pool grew after each phase. In total 36 operators were joining the action, meaning the 5 players had a total of 36 lives to try and clear the mode.

We made a reworked hostage exclusivly for the Assault on Hereford phase, which is now re-used in the core game.

This keyart was a monumental task. For the very simple fact that it was not scoped at all. It was not planned that I had to make the ky art nor the Loading Screen.

The request was to make this shot a narrative shot, not a "we feature skins for you to buy" shot. As of such I made around 14 diffrent types of recruit Strikers and Sentries posings, and combined them all together to make it feel like we are "boots on the ground".

The slight blood on the back of the boots telling us the main recruit we follow is an infiltrator on Rainbow HQ. It took around 2 weeks in a constant rush to push out for delivery.

It was a well-worth push for the final curtain dropped with the following cinematic trailer:

Onward with Year 10 and beyond with a bang!

Disclaimer that the credits below are relevant people for the above mockups, menus and assets creation at the Montreal Studio. The game has more than 900+ developers as of 2026. It is impossible for me to list everyone. I tried to list everyone from memory and I'm very sorry if your name should and does not appear in this list.
