CHRISTMAS EVENTS DESCRIPTION

CHRISTMAS 2016 EVENT TRAILER

The Christmas Events in Dungeon Hunter 5 were pretty important as they were heavily focused on retention as well as great give aways of gifts and gacha chances ups.

The mockups we had to realize were always focused on the the general idea we have of christmas but tinted with the fantasy of Valenthia; the main city of Dungeon Hunter.

We had to find a balance with the handpainting cartoons style along the ARPG fantasy-gore genre as a whole. In the end, each iteration leaned on the goofy aspect, more than the gore per say. Hence the UI artistic vision in all visuals were always kept as joyful, colorful and very clean.

2015 CHRISTMAS MOCKUPS

The first iteration of the event was more conservative than future iterations. I was a UI Artist at the time and my Lead defined the Item Details Background which I used to redefine all other assets.

I designed the event icon, rewards flags, currencies and other framing assets. The explanations menu, event banner and reward progression.

I also had to design the event calendar and bundle offer.

The currency we knew we wanted christmas ornaments and so the concepts I made was approved quite quickly. As for the Event icon, it didnt go through that many iterative concepts before we chose our final selection.

2016 CHRISTMAS MOCKUPS

In 2016, I was a Lead UI Artist on the project. Designers had more ideas and wanted to keep the already existing menus and add a brand new shop to spend currencies directly.

Also, we added a ornaments level along the boss challenge to grind alongside the refreshes of energy, which required new banners and buttons to access each that I supervised.

Lastly, we also gave new crafting items and a brand new unique accessory and a flew of themed upgrade items to players to enjoy during the holidays.

In 2016, I had to create the Marketing Splash Screen for the Christmas Event. For which I was pretty invloved with. Its creation was insanly short, 120h in 7 days as we had a concept artist cancel the contract last minute. I focused on the Kringle vs the exclusive Bounty Hunter Armor won at the time. They are fighting on the level of the event called: Valenthian's Rooftops.

The short story is we started back from scratch and I had to crunch it out as fast as possible.

2017 CHRISTMAS MOCKUPS

The last Christmas Event I've worked on for Dungeon Hunter 5 was the 2017 version. The revamp of the UI was already done at the time, so we expanded the event through a whole month as a plus. This was our love letters to players for their support throughout 3+ years already.

We added another very hard challenging boss mid-through the month and we expanded the accessories tiers.

Not to mention, there were promotions throughout the shop at the time: hard currency discounts, giveaways, and a brand new calendar to keep the holiday gifts going.
